We planned a cruise around Island of Mull (120miles straight line), taking
in a couple of the Hebrides a couple of years ago, but the weather never
came right.
No land or sea support planned, but two boats sailing in company to 'keep a
look out' for each other.
The plan was to use Hobie 16's due to the ability to ram them up a sand or
shingle beach at night without worrying too much.
We found that it is quite possible to carry a tent, two sleeping bags and a
small bag of bits and pieces, as long as you didn't want to tack every five
seconds!

There are a few reports of cat cruising on www.thebeachcats.com which is
American based, which make interesting reading.
